Family grave landscaping with an individual design
At Pļavnieki Cemetery, a unique memorial ensemble has been created that combines the durability of quality granite, practical grave care and the elegance of decorative wrought-metal elements. The work was made to an individual design, creating a place of remembrance that is both visually striking and long-lasting.
Design idea and symbolism
When the head of a family passes into eternity, he leaves behind a family tree – both literally and symbolically. To honour the memory of the departed, a portrait has been engraved on the two-part granite monument, a reminder of a good and honest man who built a strong family and lived his life with dignity.
At the centre of the monument is a wrought bronze element, “The Tree of Eternity”, symbolising solidity, permanence and the eternal continuation of life.
Composition of the monument and grave
The modern grave layout was created with practicality, longevity and easy care in mind. The design was developed to combine visual elegance with a functional solution – by using quality, weather-resistant materials, caring for the grave becomes simple, while its appearance stays impeccable for many years.
- Two-part granite monument – on one side, the portrait of the departed and Caggiati bronze inscriptions; on the other, a place for his wife, so that in future they may rest side by side.
- Grave surface – flamed granite slabs, which make care much easier: it is enough to sweep away leaves or debris.
- Plants – double beds of evergreen box, which keeps its shape and appearance in every season without needing intensive care.
Technical execution and quality
All elements are made from durable, weather-resistant materials – natural granite, bronze and quality decorative wrought metalwork. This ensures longevity and beauty for many years to come.
Designer and installation
The design was developed to an individual concept. Designer – Inese Dimdāne.
The work was installed at Pļavnieki Cemetery in Riga in May 2025.
