Reconstruction of an existing grave combined with a new monument to an individual design in the Madona district.

A family grave with a long history at Vistiņleja Cemetery in Madona Municipality has been given a new design. The grave covers a total area of 100 m2, and its sides are 10 metres long. Reconstruction work on this scale, where the burials of several generations have to be brought together in one ensemble, is quite rare. A new design was developed for the grave to connect the older burials with the recent one.

For the recent burial, a two-part design monument was developed, reaching a height of 2.20 metres. The monument bears a full-length portrait of the deceased. Bronze squirrels created by a sculptor are placed on the monument, the inscriptions are also in bronze, and the parts of the monument are joined by a pedestal with a bronze tree – together forming a unified monument group that blends harmoniously into the overall reconstructed ensemble.

New small granite grave frames with inscriptions have been installed on the older burials.
